Daisy...Part 2

Well, I took Daisy back to the vet today to have her glucose levels checked. The vet is really worried that her numbers aren't dropping. He decided to keep her overnight to give her fluids, and run a number of other tests. We are concerned that she may have ketoacidosis, a serious side effect of the diabetes. If she does have ketoacidosis, we may have to put her to sleep so that she doesn't suffer. Please keep Daisy as well as our family in your prayers. This is a very difficult time for us.

Daisy

We took Daisy to a new vet today for a second opinion on how to handle her diabetes...the new vet was WONDERFUL! We take her back tomorrow after trying a few different things with the insulin! Here's hoping that we are finally on the right track to getting her regulated!

Finally Home...AGAIN!

Wow, sorry it's been almost a week since my last post! We were home from SC for about 2 1/2 days and then we headed out again! We spent the weekend at our lakehouse on Lake Erie. It was a great weekend! Lots of sunshine, friends, family, and of course the jet skiis!

Today is going to be a bit rough. We are taking Daisy, our minature schnauzer, to a new vet for a second opinion. 2 months ago we found out that she has diabetes. We've been giving her insulin along with other things, but she hasn't really gotten any better. Because of the diabetes, she is almost completely blind now. We feel that we need to see another vet, with more experience, and hopefully get some answers as to what to do that will be best for Daisy! Our appointment is at 4:30 today, so I'll update you tonight on how things have gone!
Here are some pics from the last week, since I haven't posted in a while!

Finally Home!

After more than two weeks away, we finally made it back home yesterday. It is good to be home...but we are already missing our family in South Carolina. The good thing is that we will see Jeffrey, Jill and Emma next weekend...and Norm and Kathy at the end of July!

Noah was so excited to have the rest of his toys back...and his room! Now to get to the not so fun part of vacation...unpacking. We will be repacking tomorrow to go to the our lakehouse for the weekend! Jet skiis here we come.

I am getting the itch to redo some rooms in the house, although Bill continues to remind me that a new roof and siding are our projects for the summer. Yes, practical, but neithe of those projects are fun for me! So I will have to settle for making new curtains and a bedspread for Noah's room!

Heading to the knee surgeon tomorrow...hoping that surgery is not the only option left. Daisy also goes for her vet check-up tomorrow. While she did great in SC, since being home her numbers have not been so great...I'll let you know tomorrow how things go!

Our Children's Hospital Day!

WOW...What a day! Today was Noah's Children's Hospital appointment at the NEW hospital! It was great. The hospital is so much easier to get to, and SOOOOO child friendly...I've never seen Noah cooperate so much for one of his visits! Dr Vockley made Noah feel right at home...he even got down and played trucks with him! Noah got great reports all around...He is a skinny mini, but since his height is getting up there they aren't worried..Just keep doing what we are doing was the answer!

Still no updated food list. His nutritionist is hoping that in the next few months we should begin to see something. Noah even made some new friends today...a set of 2 year old triplets!
Liam, Casey, Gavin, and Noah watching the exhibit at Children's!

Noah after our 5 hour visit at CHP!

Noah even got to feed the fish in the pond with his Grand-Bob!
It was a great day. It all ended with a visit and dinner out with Noah's great-grandma..Nanny! Now, we are looking forward to being home tomorrow for the first time in 2 weeks!

Coming to an end!

It pains me to say that our trip to South Carolina is coming to an end. Tomorrow morning we will be setting out for Pittsburgh. Our last day here has been a scorcher...93 in the shade! I never thought I would say...it's even too hot to swim! We had a great time visiting with family, goint to Hollywild (wink), and just relaxing! We are really going to miss everyone. The good thing is that we will see Jeffrey, Jill and Emma in two weeks at the lake house, and Grandma and Pap-Pap for my sister, Erin's wedding on July 25th!

I'll try to update you on Sunday night....We go to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for Noah's appointment with Dr. Vockley. We get a little nervous before each appointment, not knowing what kind of news or test results to expect. I'll update you all on Monday night...here's hoping for a great appointment!

Here are a few pictures from our last days in SC!

Busy Busy

Wow! It's been a busy few days! I got to babysit my niece, Emma last night while Jeffrey and Jill went to see Sugarland and Keith Urban. We all had a great time! Emma definitely did not want to follow her mom's sleep rules! How could she? She knows that we are leaving on Saturday and won't get to see her for a few weeks! I must have done a good job...she slept all night for her Mommy and Daddy!

Today was a great day spent by the pool! It was one of the first days that we didn't get any storms until pretty late in the day. Noah had a blast in the pool. He's come a LONG way from his first swim class! His favorite thing is to be tossed way up high and land with a great big SPLASH! We are sad that we only have one day left in SC, but can't wait to have our SC family visit in a few weeks!

He smiled all the way up and down!

Such a ham...a perfect pose for the camera!

Miyabi's

We got to spend time with baby Emma today while Aunt Jill went to tutor! She is so adorable!

We went to dinner tonight with Aunt Jill & Uncle Jeff! (Noah's aunt & uncle!) Miyabi's is a Japanese Steakhouse! He LOVED it! So entertained by the chef. Plus, at one point he was double fisting shrimp while trying to use chopsticks to eat his rice! We had a great time! Miyabi's is one SC tradition that we definitely need to continue!
Noah had such a great time that he was asleep in no time!

Hoping Today is Better Than Last Night

Well, Noah the rotten sleeper had a rough night. He was up a lot, which means that Mom was up a lot too. Of course he had to wake up at 5:30 for good! I can only hope that he will nap well and be refreshed and friendly for playing with Emma and our trip to Miyabi's tonight! I'll let you know this evening how things turned out.

Spaghetti Noah!

About Noah!

For those of you who know us well, you know all about our son Noah. Noah was born with a rare genetic disorder called Galactosemia. For those that don't really know about or understand it you can visit http://www.galactosemia.org/ for more information. It's taken a lot of time to get used to and a lot of adaptations to our lifestyle to make accomodations for our son. Noah had a VERY rough start in the NICU, but with our careful watch he has thrived and to anyone who doesn't know him, looks like a typical healthy toddler.

We are looking forward to our next visit to the new Children's Hosiptal of Pittsburgh on Monday, June 22, 2009. The doctors are wonderful and we are hoping that his nutritionist will have an updated food list for us!

Hello!

Well, bear with me...this is my first experience with writing a blog! My sister-in-law Jill does a wonderful job with her blog...she will have to be my coach!
We are currently on vacation in Greenville, SC. We are visiting my in-laws. It's been an exciting trip so far...we got to finally meet my niece, Emma Rose! She's such a cutie. It's been a bit rough for Noah, trying to find a good sleep schedule. He's currently in need of a nap and fighting it all the way!
